The rapidly growing capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia is home to some of the most stunning and historic wedding venues that you will find in a city anywhere in the country. The city still has its southern roots but has evolved recently into an attractive place for families and young people to live and socialize. Below we have outlined some options for your wedding day in the 804.

The VMFA

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts rents out one of its upstairs ballrooms for weddings. Attracting some of the finest art from around the world, you can curate your own wedding at the same site. The outdoor garden is 13 acres where you can take photos at your leisure. There is an incredible sculpture garden with some trippy exhibits. The venue accommodates between 70-300 people depending on which room you rent. Finally, the prices range from $2,500-7,500 and include a five hour rental.

John Marshall Ballrooms

A historic venue in the John Marshall Hotel, this venue is right downtown as the building stands out on the skyline when approaching from I-95. After laying dormant for 20+ years the venue reopened to its original grandeur. The Marshall Ballroom has nine chandeliers and 30 foot high windows. The adjacent Virginia Ballroom has a huge wooden dance floor surrounded by a balcony, and has a grand staircase for the entrance. They can handle up to 150 guests but no prices are listed. Get married in the same building that has hosted three US Presidents and multiple celebrities from the 50’s including Elvis.

With two distinct locations, each with its own sense of flare, you have the opportunity to choose the style of your wedding. At the main Westhampton location, in the city, wedding goers will expect nothing but a top notch event. The James River location is just as classy but slightly smaller and utilizes fewer rooms. This is a classic, exclusive destination in the city of Richmond. No prices are listed.
