Our nation’s capital is a small place on the map but it is one of the most beautiful places we have for the spring and fall. Below is a list of parks that you can use to host your next big outdoor event.
1. Rock Creek Park
As part of the large park complex on the Northwest side of DC, Rock Creek is a huge park with 1,754 acres of green space. The park has Civil War history, working mills, colonial houses, horseback riding, golf, tennis, and more sports. There are 8 picnic areas available to rent as well as places for weddings.

You can use this link to book your picnic area or covered event. Parking is available on site at the three visitors centers for a nominal fee, no cash is accepted. There are 80 spots at the Rock Creek Center and free parking at the picnic areas and Nature Center.

2. Fort Lincoln Park
In the north of DC is this cool park with tons of history. The park is 6 acres wide on a hilltop overlooking DC that is part of 68 Civil War ramparts in the area. There are play areas and the park was recently renovated.

3. Meridian Hill Park
Just north of downtown on 16th street is this elongated park where a former president lived after his run in office. There is a cascading fountain in the heart of the park that is one of the largest in North America. There are walking trails in the park as well as multiple statues.

4. Stanton Park
Sitting at the cross between Massachuests and Maryland avenues, this tiny tree lined park has a neighborhood feel. This is one of the larger Capitol Hill Parks. There are walkways, a playground, and a convenient location.

Parking is difficult near the park due to it being right downtown, however you can take the green, orange, or blue lines to get there. Check out more info at the following link.

5. Turtle Park
Across the street from American University is this tiny park with multiple playground sets. They have open fields, a basketball court, and tennis courts.

6. Glover-Archbold Park
The ideal park for runners and walkers due to the canopy of trees, this place is beautifully situated inside the District of Columbia. This park is 183 total acres and winds through various places. No bikes are allowed in this park.

There is no central parking area as the park is so close to the city center. You can look for street parking but it may be tough here. Lastly, look for more information at their website here.
