Parks Perfect for Outdoor Parties in Norfolk VA

The Norfolk/Tidewater area resides in close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia Beach with ocean access. There are also various rivers that feed into the Bay that make for maximum outdoor fun. This bustling area is more of a sprawling network of towns than a central downtown location. Layfayette Park

This 32 acre park has baseball/softball fields as well as a boat ramp into the Lafayette River and then the bay. There are three picnic shelters available for rent, the information can be found here. You can make reservations by phone or email, the info for which can be found at that site. There is a zoo nearby and it has some shelters across the way, which are available for free.

Lakewood Park

Just north of the downtown area lies this 40 acre park. There is a playground and baseball, softball, basketball, and tennis facilities. In addition they have a horseshoe pit and playground. There is a picnic shelter and the information can be discovered at the link above.

Barraud Park

This park centers on sports and physical activities. The size is 25 acres and does not have any rental capabilities so feel free to jump on an open spot in the lawn and enjoy a free picnic with friends or family.

Community Beach Park

East of downtown and right on the ocean is this amazing little beachfront park. The relaxed vibe and sandy beaches mix with shaded areas under trees. There are lifeguards on duty but as it is a beach, bring the towel and family for a fun time in the sun…for free. The park has free parking and public restrooms.

Northside Park

This park sits north of downtown and comprises 62 acres. This park offers 5 shelters for rent at the link above. There is a skatepark and a pool, although the pool is currently closed.
