One of the main suburbs of DC on the Maryland side is Bethesda. The town mixes young professionals and an older generation with a population of around 70,000. Check out these parks below to host your next outdoor event.

1. Western Grove Urban Park

Our first park sits right on the border with the District of Columbia. This park is 1.9 acres and underwent a renovation in 2017. It has natural landscape, a human sundial, water features, and a natural play space. There is a picnic area and plaza as well.

2. Willard Avenue Neighborhood Park

The next park is also close to DC and has a creek that runs through it. This one has two playgrounds and totals 5.1 acres. There are multi use fields as well as a free to use picnic area. The park is well kept and stays open from sunrise to sundown.

3. Norwood Local Park

This park specializes in sports fields: soccer, baseball, basketball, football, softball, and tennis. There is an activity building available for rent that can house up to 64 people, has a kitchen, and 40 parking spaces, and tables and chairs.

4. Glen Mar Neighborhood Park

Our next park is less than 1 acre big but packs a big punch. There are basketball courts, two playgrounds, and a tennis court.

5. Woodacres Local Park

Just up the road from the previous park is Woodacres, a 10 acre park in the heart of Bethesda. The park has a multi use field, playgrounds, basketball court, baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts. It is open from sunrise to sunset.

6. Westmoreland Hills Local Park

Our final stop is a 10 acre park just next to the creek and the walking trails that surround it. It is close to the DC border. The highlight of the park is a man made battery from the Civil War era. The park also has plenty of open green space.

Bethesda is an incredibly livable place with a quaint downtown. This area sits a stone’s throw from downtown DC. Be sure to check out the area and these parks for an outdoor party.
